NeuroBioTex Inc. was incorporated in 1999 with the aim of developing research tools, diagnostics, and therapeutics for diseases involving zinc.
Our particular focus is on ionic zinc signals, including the cells that secrete them, the channels through which they travel, and the receptors that are tuned to the zinc signals.
Thus, we have devoted considerable research effort to determining what is the physiological concentration of ionic or “free” zinc in biological fluids such as the CSF, blood serum, saliva, semen, tears, and the intracellular fluids of cells.
Having determined the approximate ranges for free zinc in these fluids (e.g., ~ 10 nM for CSF, 4 pM for intracellular cytosol), we now sell measurement tools for measuring the free zinc in the physiological range, for imaging free zinc in the appropriate range(s) and for buffering free zinc to the correct levels for maintaining and studying cells and tissue in vitro.
NeuroBioTex is also involved in the development of both diagnostic and therapeutic tools for the clinician to diagnose and treat disorders stemming from disturbances of te concentrations of free zinc in organisms or tissues.
