NeuroBioTex is located in a set of 5 small buildings containing about 10,000 SF of laboratory, animal housing, and office space. For basic research on the biology of zinc we have small animal surgery, and modest animal behavior facilities, as well as a complete electrophysiology rig (patch, sharp electrode, slice). We also have three fluorescent microscopes (Zeiss, Leica) and a confocal (Olympus Odyssey). A Spex Fluorlog 3, several pZn Meters, and an assortment of lasers and optics complete our major research equipment. For prototyping we have a fairly complete machine shop and electronic testing/assembly facility. In addition, we have access through collaboration to the facilities of 4 different departments at the UT Medical School, which is across the street from our site.
